Alright, let’s get something out on the table here. I think that sometimes, the term “branding” comes with a negative connotation, especially with wellness entrepreneurs and within the health and wellness community. If you put a marketing strategy in place and promote a “brand”, you’re associated with selling out…or a corporation… or something… Well I’ve got some news for you, folks. As a teacher, consultant, expert or the like … YOU are a brand, whether you like it or not! People want to attend YOUR class or read YOUR book or seek YOUR advice. YOU are the authentic part of your operation, even if your methods are learned. This means that if you want to grow your business, presenting your audience with a genuine perspective on YOU is the way to do it.

I say, embrace your brand! There’s nothing wrong with wanting to grow your business and your following strategically. Doesn’t that just mean you will have more opportunity to impact a greater number of people? A branding strategy simply helps to get your message out there in a consistent and effective way so that more people hear it and understand your intention.
Repeat after me. There is no shame in…Wanting to build an honest and profitable business by helping people live better lives (take our fictional “Amy” for example). There is nothing wrong with… Doing this through asserting yourself in your industry and establishing a message that expresses what differentiates you from the pack.
So my message is this: Yoga instructors, personal trainers, massage therapists, life coaches, nutritionists… all of you wellness entrepreneurs out there with goals of business growth – if you haven’t yet established a consistent brand and messaging for yourself, IT IS TIME! Channeling these concepts consistently and to the right audience will grow your following and give you the ability to influence more people. Projecting your personal message will not only help you attract more clients, it might even provide you with a better understanding of yourself, so don’t knock it til you try it!
